“A Moral Question”
“America was founded on the promise of equality for all” the American way said. Is these really equality for all? For example, Nikki White was middle class in the United States of American. We can relate to two American values equality and self-help.
Nikki White was thirty-two years old a citizen of the United States of America. She was middle class. Once she was sick, with a serious disease lupus, She couldn’t get health insurance. She needed to stay alive. Like anyone, she was filled with hopes and dreams. She spent the last months of her life frantically writing letters and filling out forms, pleading for help. When she died, she didn’t die happily.
Ms. White’s death could be explained by two American values. Equality means that Americans believe all people are created equal and everyone should have equal opportunities. In a positive way, equality is the same status, rights, and responsibilities for all the United States of Americans. For example, the affordable care act called Obamacare. The healthcare and health insurance both in America increases the quality, availability and affordability. When you are sick without health insurance could get coverage. However, in this case, limitation is negative aspect about equality. For example, in United States of America, the government controls your welfare according to your income. In addition, American values equality is not equal for all the United States of Americans. According to Ms. White’s income level, she has a good income in the United States of American. She couldn’t get health insurance. When she was sick, she didn’t have too much money to pay for the doctors. She didn’t have equal opportunities, when she died.
Another American value is Self-Help. This means to solve your problems without the help of others. Again, this value has two sides. It could be said that self-help is more independent. For example, when I attended a boarding school, I lived separately from my parents. I have to clean bedroom, wash dish, and wash cloths, I helped myself without help. I learned independence. In negative aspect is selfishness. It is living for yourself. For example,” White spent the last months of her life frantically writing letters and filling out forms, pleading for help.” Judging by this quotes, people are rather selfish. Why are people selfish? Because selfish person don’t want give the time, help, money or others. They are self-centered.
In conclusion, Nikki White’s death could be explained with the two American values equality and self-help. Equality is not really for all. I felt unfair.

Different Types of Classes
Do you know we have different types of classes in ours school? We can statements classified in three: face to face, online and hybrid classes.
First, one type of classes is face to face. “face to face classes are clearer and has more sense”. My classmate Miranda said. The teacher can use the own words to explain it and students pay attention to the class. Face to face also used for students in the class, classmates can remind each other what information was missing, get more ideas and correct errors to improve. On the other hand, students can’t ignore their teacher. For example, if the teacher wants someone to answer the question, the student must confront the teacher with the question. The disadvantage is time limit. The teacher cannot accommodate individual students who need extra time. In my experience, I attended the lecture “Gender and the Future of Genocide Studies” by Dr. Elisa von Joeden-Forgey. She spoke so fast, like she was racing against time. The only way to mediate challenges of this type of learning is to see your instructor outside of class.
Another type of classes is online. Flexible study time is good for someone who can’t go to school and sit in the class. According to my experience, online classes can active listening. For instance, I completed an online assignment “Human Guinea Pigs: Involuntary Medical Experimentation-A Global Perspective” by Beth Lilach. The whole lecture and the questions you can “pause” to repeat and go online research more information about the questions. Multiple-study in one time is the way for online classes. Online classes the disadvantage way is students can’t ask questions. For instance, if you don’t understand and clear, you must write down the question and go ask someone else who can explain clearly for you.
Finally, hybrid classes combine both face to face and online. The best way is that people can choose complementation to learning style, which includes face to face and online. For example, my professor went to Seattle to join his sister’s wedding party. He couldn’t come to school, so he left his online homework for us. My professor placed someone’s lectures online for students to review. our class students used these online materials to engage in face to face activities. Hybrid classes mediated face to face and online settlements.
In conclusion, their own need to determine face to face, online and hybrid classes in our school.

Volunteerism
Volunteerism can make allow us friendships, more future opportunities, develop and learn a new skill. NYC has several volunteering options: environmental protection and children & youth services.
First of all, one local volunteering option from QCC volunteer fair is environmental protection, because can make city green, keeps us in good condition. We’re live on earth, health, water, air all environmental protection. Volunteer can meet new people, learn a new skill from other and make good friend ship regardless where they’re from. For example, my classmate Sissi went to tree planting. She made new friends and learned new skills from her new friends. When she graduated, they still kept in touch until now. When Sissi lived separately from her parents, she wants to look for school in NYC. Her friend helped Sissi get all information, and also help Sissi found a part time job. When you protect the environment, we can get healthy.
Another local volunteering option also from QCC volunteer fair is children & youth services. Children& youth service to protect and help children. Benefits of volunteering is to explore potential through with their children, and you can make the bridge of friendship, and let your heart forever young. Volunteers help children & youth develop their talent. The children’s world is full of infinite possiblies, and you might learn some new ideas from the children. Volunteer’s gain experience to include on your resume and transfer application, all your future opportunities. For instance, my classmate Steve, who is a volunteer in a library, helps children to find something they need. If children can’t find a book, Steve uses his computer skills to help the child find out they need and instructs the child how to use the computer to find it.
For the above reasons, I would like to volunteer at this time. Because I want to make more friends in my life, I want to learn something new from others, and I also want to use my skills to help someone who needs help. We know our own value. We are doing little things that can change the world more beautiful.

Movie Review
What would you think if you heard the U.S government supported secret medical experimentation for over 40 years? This is exacting what happened in Tuskegee, Alabama. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case.
In 1932 Macon County, Alabama, the federal government launched into a medical study called The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Blacks with Syphilis. The study selected 412 men infected with the disease and long term untreated. They only gave them placebos and liniments. Only 127 men survived. The story is from the point of view of Nurse Evers, who was well aware of the lack of treatment being offered, but felt her role was to console the involved men, many of whom were her direct friends. In fact, the movie’s name comes from the dancer and three musicians named their act for her-“Miss Evers’ Boys.” One of musicians named Caleb fell in love with Evers, but his love went unrequited even after he joined the Army during World War 2 and is treated and cured by penicillin. In the end the survivors receive treatment and financial compensation after the Senate Investigation.
The historical documentary The Way of all Flesh showed that, in 1951, a woman died in Baltimore, America. She had cervical cancer. She was called Henrietta Lacks. Doctors took her cells from her body without asking. After 20 years, when scientist published the immortal life from the woman Henrietta Lacks, these cells have transformed modern medicine, and her cells hold the secret of how to conquer death. This film can connect to the movie Miss Evers’ Boys. The story gives a good view we can do, and makes you wonder what they are doing right now they are not sharing with us, not only in our country but everywhere else too.
In my opinion, this is a very good movie. It lets us see the truth that we did not know before.

CAT-W ESSAY
According to the article Good Schools Can Make Low-Income Teenagers Healthier by the journal of the American Academy of Pediatricians, the article explains that high-performing schools were less likely to participate in risky health behaviors than low-performing schools. The researchers looked at 1,000 students in high-performing schools, 36% of the kids in high-performing schools engaged in at least one of 11 very risky behaviors, and 42% of kids attended low-performing schools took part in the unsafe behaviors. Most peoples want to go to good schools, because the good schools have more opportunity, and have a good future. I think good schools can make low-income teenagers healthier. The article points out good schools may make students healthier.
First of all, good schools have many more better teachers. When the good schools hiring a teacher always require the teacher have good background and good experience. For example, the teacher have good experience can help students develop potential. Each student are different, the good schools always get the teachers good benefits who can develop students more. That‘s good schools have good teacher, the good teachers not only teach knowledge, they are also could help students be healthier, because health is more important than knowledge.
In addition, the good schools are always in good condition. People want to build a good schools, the government always think about the condition is good for students develop, students are country future leader, a good leader could not have a bad behavior. In the article show that good schools could lower risky health behavior. For example, my sister in good condition school, the school in the very nice quite and beautiful place, students pay more attention get more information from teacher, she has perfect grade. Her school has no any drugs store, chemical industry, and no noise around it. My neighbor was in regular school, she has bad behavior from other students, and she was transfer to another good condition school, she had improved in good condition school a lot. She has removed bad behavior from others be more health.
I agree with Dr. Michael Wong said the results echo finding in other research, “better education will lead to better health.” The study is important. If everyone could have a good schools can make everyone more health, good school in good condition, good teacher will develop students more potential. For long team, people will no have bad behavior, and lower risky health.

Is Drinking Milk Healthy for Humans?
Some scientific studies have found that contrary to popular belief, drinking milk may do more harm to our bodies than good. Research shows that we have several reasons why drinking milk may not be healthy.
First of all, some doctors advice against drinking milk. Milk proteins, milk sugar fat, and saturated fat in dairy products pose health risks for children and encourage the development of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Benjamin Spock, MD said “they can impair a child’s ability to absorb iron and in very small children can even cause subtle blood loss from the digestive tract.” The doctor more professional than us, and his suggestion is more scientific reason.
Second, drinking milk might not be a good way to build strong bones. Several studies of teenagers have found that their adult bone health is related to their physical activity level earlier in life, but not to the amount of milk or calcium they consumed. In a 12-year Harvard study of 78,000 women, the researcher got the most calcium from dairy products received no benefit and actually broke more bones than women who got little or no calcium from dairy. Milk consumption is no help later in life either.
Finally, drinking milk might not help people lose weight. “We found that children who reported higher total milk intake experienced larger weight gains; children who drank more 1% and skim milk had larger weight than those who drank smaller amounts of 1% and skim milk.” Catherine Berkey, ScD, lecturer in medicine at Harvard Medical schools. They didn’t support theories that greater milk intake will contribute to the control of being overweight.
Some people might say drinking milk is healthy for humans. Milk and dairy products are recognized as an important source of nutrition in human diets, providing energy, high quality protein, and essential minerals and vitamins. However each person’s physical health ideas are not the same as those of anyone drinking milk.
There are many good reasons why avoiding milk is a health benefit, not a hazard. My suggestion is that everyone should discontinue consuming milk products. Milk may not be necessary in life, and it is harmful to health.

As a journalist
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a non-fiction book by American author Rebecca Skloot. It is about Henrietta Lacks and the immortal cells that came from 31 a poor black woman with cervical cancer. The doctors took her cells without asking. Those cells never died, they launched a medical revolution. Those cells became one of the most important in medicine, vital for developing the polio vaccine, cloing, gene mapping, in vitro fertilization, and more. Those cells sold by the billions, and created a multimillion-dollar industry. More than twenty years later, her children found out, the Lacks family learned their mother’s cells still alive, and contribution to science, but her family can’t afford health insurance. This book is between ethics, race, and medicine.
What condition do you think as a journalist to have? Do you think being journalist is easy? Do you think being a journalist is safe? What does ”journalist” mean? First of all, a journalist is a person who collects, writes news or other current information. Second, Journalist is the embodiment of morality and ethics. A journalist must tell all true, and to show the truth. Journalist advantage is that she can go to many places with open eyes, and can contact with different people to get life experience. A journalist bad thing is tired and sometimes need a risk.
As a journalist Rebecca Skloot she did well on positioned. She is interested in science and discovering the real story. Skloot is careful to present the encounter between the Lacks family and the world of medicine without taking sides. Since Henrietta Lacks died decades before she began writing this book, she visited a lot of important people and also did a lot of investigation. She wants the reader to feel closer to this nonfiction book. She use native dialects to spoke and wrote about each person: and no names were changed, no characters invented, and no events fabricated.
As a white journalist Skloot knew how dangerous the road ahead, but she takes courage and need a risk. Skloot needed other hand, but first she needs Lacks family hand then facts can begin. First conversation she went to black township Baltimore to meet Lacks family, and things don’t think so simple, and she needed to wait. She didn’t lose hope, God blessing her, she is white rich family, she is in plain clothing, and she is very sincere and has an unambitious attitude. Skloot spent more than ten years to find the real story. She helps Lacks family to find out her mother in contribution award in science. This made the Lacks family admired her so much. When this nonfiction book was written, the doctors are God this is wrong, it also allows scientists to realize human rights, and it is the importance the content of the agreement. The journalists around the world have found that everything happens for a reason, and the original facts are talking.
In conclusion, as a journalist, Rebecca Skloot was a success, and we need more writers like her. She put the spirit to send out the world. She did her job, and she did it expertly. In my opinion, being a journalist is not easy, and not safe. I will not be a journalist.

Immigration
The United States could be heaven or hell. Everyone has a different understanding of the United States. Some people say if you love someone, send him to The United States, there is heaven; others say if you hate someone, send him to The United States, there is hell. Different people have a different opinion of The United States. Historically, there has been an ambivalence towards immigration in America.
On one hand, there are many benefits to immigration. First of all, it benefits the immigrants. Social welfare in The United States is not as good as in other western countries but the social security is the biggest of all. Everyone working for a certain time will receive a pension from the government. In addition, the government gives benefits to poor and people without income. Finally, the government sets up medical treatment to protect low-income families, and children can also be guaranteed. In addition, immigration benefits the whole country. These are the benefits of immigration.
Not everyone supports immigration, however. In fact, many people have negative attitudes towards immigration. Many Americans believe immigrants are taking jobs away from Americans. Many Americans believe the government is spending too much money on the poor and people without income. Finally, many Americans believe that immigrants will replace them in their land. This points out why not everyone supports immigration in U.S.
I’m an immigrant to The United States of America. The United States gives everybody opportunity to find their own need. The United States never limits anyone from continuing their education, no matter how poor or rich or how old are you. On the contrary, the government encourages students and provides scholarships. The United States should open the world for all people, and make the world more clearly understand The United States.
